R Supplement:
This Supplement is designed to assist those who wish to utilize R rather than Matlab in either teaching the material in the Mathematics for the Life Sciences text or for those who wish to expand their programming skills to another language in the context of the biological emphasis of the text. It is not designed as a complete introduction or overview of R, but is limited to the enhancing the reader's ability to utilize R in analyzing the methods developed in the text. there are many on-line resources available to assist in learning R, including those available through the Manuals section of the CRAN R-Project CRAN R-Project.
The Supplement modifies the material included in the Matlab Skills sections at the end of each chapter, specifying the appropriate R coding constructs rather than those for Matlab. Thus, this is designed to supplement the material in the text, and it is expected that users of this will have already purchased the text. It is not appropriate to utilize this Supplement except as an adjunct to the text. It holds the same copyright as the text, so please respect the copyright in your use of this Supplement. This means, for example, that this Supplement should not be modified, or components extracted from it, for purposes other than its use as an adjunct to the text, without explicit permission from the authors and Princeton University Press.
